Danish Flavour Organisation
The Danish Trade Association for Flavour Manufacturers, Importers and Agents.
WHAT IS DFO?
The Danish Flavour Organisation (DFO) has, since the 1940s, been a trade association for Danish flavour and extract manufacturers, importers, agents, and associated members. The purpose of the association is to safeguard the common interests of its members in relation to the production, purchase, and sale of flavourings for foodstuffs. We represent the industry and issue statements on its behalf to national and international authorities and organisations.
Our organisation is a member of the European flavour organisation, EFFA, which comprises national flavour organisations from across Europe. EFFA works on behalf of the flavour industry at the European level by monitoring EU legislation and promoting alliances with other European organisations. EFFA is also a member of the International Organization of the Flavor Industry (IOFI), through which DFO is therefore also represented.
WHAT IS FLAVOUR?
Flavour refers to the overall sensory experience of a food or beverage, including taste, aroma, and other sensory impressions. Flavourings consist of volatile compounds with known chemical compositions, such as extracts, distillates, and essential oils. Read much more about flavours in this brochure.
